There was a big difference between the Feb./March Revolution and the Oct./Nov. Revolution. The Feb./March Revolution was unsuccessful because during the war there was such little food for the citizens because it was being given to the troops fighting in the war. The Provisional government wanted to back out of the war because of this issue but they decided they couldn't because of the price they would have to pay. Germany would make them give away a big portion of their land and they didn't think it was worth it. The Oct./Nov. Revolution was very successful because Lenin promised peace, land and bread so everyone wanted him in power. He dropped out of the war so he could give the people what he had promised and as a result, the Germans took a chunk of there land but with that, the citizens got food.

Lenin faced many struggles after the civil war. One thing that led into Lenin’s problems was with communism and him being unsure to secure a solitary economic policy for Russia. For a short time, the Bolsheviks were very unpopular. Other nations were against what he was trying to make Russia into but they were not opposed to the Bolsheviks. Lenin wanted to try and make Russia communist. He did this by being violent but not as violent as Stalin. He was trying to make everyone equal but the capitalist world was afraid that their own citizens would apply communism and revolt against them.
After Lenin died, Stalin and Trotsky took over some of the power that was left by Lenin. The two were in charge of different things. Stalin took care of propaganda and public relations whereas Trotsky was the Military leader. One of their main fights was between “guns or butter”. Trotsky deported because Stalin came out on top. Though Stalin was a harsh leader and killer, he ultimately lead Russia to an economical powerhouse. I missed the beginning of Enemy at the Gates but one I first begun to watch it, I was a bit confused and skeptical because I don’t enjoy watching war movies. As the movie progressed I began to be more interested in the war and how it came to be. Many of the soviet men were dying in the front so I came to believe for a moment that the Nazis were going to be victorious. A sniper Vasily Zaistev was introduced and the soviet men began to regain hope. There was a young boy who was a double agent and I never really understood why he became one because he knew what he was facing and if it were up to me, I wouldn’t have done it. The boy Sasha had an idol whom was Vasily and he wanted to help him out but I think that was a lot of responsibility placed on him. He also didn’t realize the troubles he could be getting his family into. I enjoyed that there was a love story put into place throughout the movie because it made me more interested.
